Stars and Back

This month in the Outlawz Challenges group our Progressive Freebie Challenge image was from All Dressed Up, called Stars and Back. It is a super-cute image you could use for any loved one, or even to say Thank You to someone! I colored the image with copic markers, diecut a stars background with my Silhouette Cameo and added five very small bling stars here and there. I used a bronze metallic pen to color in the "love" and a white gel pen to place a small white highlight on the moon (on her pants). I tried to make the sky a little like outer space with some sweeping colors - take a look below!

This evening, take the time, stop and look at the stars, remember someone special and count your blessings for having known them.

Cutting The Rug

Have I mentioned that my husband and I do ballroom dancing? We have for about 27 years and have met some very nice people throughout that time! About 3 years ago a very unusual thing happened - a single guy started coming to one of our dance groups. You may wonder why that is unusual, but I gotta tell you, it is very common for women to come, single, unaccompanied women. In fact, we always have more women than men, and the men are very busy - lol! If a man attends a dance class, he is usually there because his partner asked him to come. So this single, never-before-knew-how-to-dance, guy starts coming to dance class. He learned to dance, met a super-nice gal from our class and they really hit it off! So much so that they just got married!!! We are all So Happy for the two of them!

So, I used a Mo's Digital Pencil image called Cutting the Rug for their card - it was just perfect! I colored the image with copic markers and paper-pieced their clothing. I cut out the image using my Silhouette Cameo along with a diecut for the lattice background. The paper behind the lattice is the same paper I used for her dress. I used a light gray copic marker to add some shading to both of their clothing. Instead of coloring the flowers in her hair I added a couple of small flowers and little sheer ribbon streamers with stickles added on the ends. I then placed some pearl hearts for accents on the lattice diecut. Congratulations to our friends, we hope they are very happy!

Shellabrate Your Anniversary

Well, one more anniversary card with this super-cute couple from Tiddly Inks. They were a freebie a few months ago and I decided to use them for the three anniversary cards I had to make. I colored them with copic markers, but forgot to write down the colors (I am so sorry!). I added small dots on them with a white gel pen. The sun is a paper clip and I added shell buttons, beads and a strip of burlap ribbon. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut and write on the cloud and the rainbow is a little sticker. I hope you enjoy my card!

Coloring Sophie

This month our image for the Outlawz Challenges Progressive Freebie came from Little Blue Button and is called Coloring Sophie. It's a very cute image that can be used for many different occasions. I've used copic markers to color it and then used the Outlawz Challenges Wednesday Sketch Challenge layout to make my card. So many times I get stuck on how to put a card together, so the Sketch Challenges really help with great ideas! The copic markers I used were minimal, the W's for the kitty, V17, 15, 12 for the yarn ball, E29, 27, 25, 23 for her hair and shoes, E30's for the chair seat, C's for the chair legs, Y's and YR23 for the table and E21 andC1 for the floor. I hope you enjoy my card.

Fin-tastic Anniversary

Wow - has your summer been as hot as ours? We are having late August temperatures right now and it's crazy! My niece's anniversary card practically made itself with the summer heat we're having right now. For this card I used the mermaid couple from Tiddly Inks that was offered a couple of months ago (April) as a freebie on her blog. I colored them with copic markers, added some white gel pen highlights all over their tails and then fussy-cut them out. The paper on the card is some scrapbooking paper - one that had a sun and the other had shells all over it. I placed a piece of burlap ribbon where the two papers met and added some plastic shell buttons (I cut off the shanks) and a couple of beads. Then I printed a shell with some text on top saying, "Have a Fin-tastic Anniversary!" I attached this shell with a small piece of shimmery elastic as if it is hanging from the sky. I hope my niece and her husband enjoy the card! Have a look:

Nadia

For the month of June, The Outlawz Challenges Progressive Freebie Challenge image is from M Medel Illustraions and is called Nadia. It's a simple yet elegant image that has so many possibilities and great for working on your coloring skills - eyes, hair, skin. I did not find Nadia in M Medel's Etsy shop, but there are many other images available! I used Square Frame Fancy from Mo's Digital Pencil to frame Nadia. The frame comes in both black and white and pre-colored versions, both available with one purchase - very versatile! I used the pre-colored version for my card. I colored the image with copic markers and used a small jewel flower for a necklace, drawn in with a gold metallic pen. I placed a jewel dragonfly at the top and used green velvet ribbon for embellishment. The layout is from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges, too! I hope it gives her a bit of a lift as she goes through this difficult time.

Bye Bye

I have to admit that I had a BLAST creating this birthday card for my nephew! He's turning 18 and is off to Ball State University, the same university from where I, one of my sisters and my brother (his dad) graduated. It took me a couple of days to work out the details for the look of my card, and then there's all the measuring and positioning. I used an image from Mo's Digital Pencil called bye bye (b). I colored the image with Copic markers and added little touches of a silver gel pen to the white handle streamers and the gray metal of the tricycle and car backpack. I also added little touches of a red glitter pen to the red handle streamers and the tricycle. On the backpack I put "BSU HERE I COME" and covered the little window with Glossy Accents. In the window of the card I put a couple of pictures of the BSU campus and printed the BSU logo several times on the outside paper. I then cut a little path using a gold paper I had and placed the tricyle on it as if he is pedaling his way to school! I can't wait to hear what he thinks of his birthday card!!!
